🍎 Homemade Apple Cake Recipe
Servings: 8–10
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 45 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour 5 minutes
Ingredients:
2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened
¾ cup (150 g) brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup (120 ml) milk or plain yogurt
2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and chopped (about 2 cups)
Optional: ½ cup (60 g) chopped walnuts or raisins
Instructions:
Preheat the oven:
Set the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 9-inch (23 cm) round or square cake pan.
Mix the dry ingredients:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
Cream the butter and sugar:
In a large bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix well. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Combine wet and dry ingredients:
Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with milk (or yogurt). Mix just until combined — don’t overmix.
Add apples (and nuts, if using):
Gently fold in the chopped apples and walnuts or raisins.
Bake:
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool and serve:
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Serve warm or at room temperature — delicious plain, or with a dusting of powdered sugar or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
